How does the Ticket system work?

In order to participate in any of the courses of the General University Sport you will first need to book (and pay for) the respective courses. In addition, courses that are held in the buildings INF 700, INF 720 and INF 710 (OSP swimming pool) also require a participation ticket (QR code) every time you wish to attend. Participation tickets can be requested from 10:00 p.m. on the day preceding the course date via your online account. Tickets will be sent out to users at 7:00 a.m. on the morning of the course. Provided there are still any left, you can request participation tickets right up until the course starts. The individual QR code of the ticket needs to be presented at the checkpoints when entering the buildings.

For CARD courses: If there are more ticket requests than available tickets a draw will be held at 7:00 a.m. on the day and tickets will be sent out to the successful participants. Users who failed to get a ticket will be notified accordingly. Any tickets returned during the day, will become re-available and can be re-requested.

Participation tickets can be requested through your online account.  The participation ticket is personalised in the name of the individual booking the course, and cannot be transferred to other persons. If you allow another person to make use of your ticket you will be excluded from the University Sport of Heidelberg University!

Some courses are held outdoors, at the aquatic centre (Wassersportzentrum) or at other external facilities. Usually, these courses require no participation ticket. Instead, the trainers have a list of participants. Whether a ticket is needed or not is stated in the course info/description.

What is the difference between CARD courses and individual courses?

Some of our courses cannot be booked individually, but are packaged into a so-called "CARD". The CARDs offer a broader range of sporting programmes that not only allow CARD bookers to attend any of the courses bundled within the respective CARD, but make it possible to switch to other days of the week and/or sports activities or to simply try out something completely new.

Which CARDs are there?

Currently, we offer the following CARDs:

  • BudoCARD (comprises all of the sports courses in the budo/martial arts category)
  • FitnessCARD (comprises all of the sports courses in the fitness category)
  • KraftraumCARD and KraftraumCARD Nebenzeiten (comprise different training slots for the weight room)
  • SchwimmCARD (comprises the slots for independent swimming)
  • BallsportCARD (comprises many of the courses in the games category)
  • BadmintonCARD (comprises the playing times for Badminton)

What to bring:

  • valid/up-to-date student ID card / staff sports ID card with valid semester sticker / guest sports ID card with valid semester sticker
  • participation ticket (QR code) for the specific date of the booked course
  • sportswear; a separate pair of clean sports shoes that have not been worn outside; for fitness courses and the weight room: a towel

Good to know!

  • The semester sticker currently in use is the one labelled "SS 25".
  • The sports courses are not held on public holidays.
  • It is generally a good idea to check the start page of our website before leaving for a course. Here, we announce if there should be any (short-term) course cancellations.
  • Please delete bookings and participation tickets that you do not intend to make use of in your account as early as possible so that the courses/tickets are freed up for other interested people. You can delete participation tickets either in your account or via the link in your notification mail.
  • Arrive at the ISSW in good time for your course as the admission checks take some time.
  • Do not change your (dirty) street shoes in the gyms. Use the changing rooms instead.
  • When you transfer the fee for a course booking you will not receive confirmation of your payment. You can check the payment status yourself in your account.
  • Lost and Found: If you lose something or leave something behind, please get in touch with the caretakers. You can reach them in their offices in buildings INF 700 and INF 720 or by phone (54-6133 and 47-7600 respectively).
  • Our courses are normally held in German. Occasionally, we have English or bilingual courses in our portfolio.
  • If courses will not take place because the minimum number of participants is not reached you will be informed by email and can get the course fee you already paid credited to your CampusCard.
  • More information on the CampusCard is available at:
